Fees and Polices
This practice is a mixed billing practice which charges both private and rebate (bulk bill) fees.
Bulk billing is available to children under 16 and patients who have a Centrelink concession card such as a Pension card, Health Care Card. Patients with a Gold DVA card are also bulk billed.
For private billing, payment is required after the consultation and we can lodge your claim to Medicare on your behalf. The practice has a Tyro machine that is linked to Medicare so if you have a debit card with a pin number that can be used at time of payment, the refund is immediate. Medicare can also reimburse you their rebate either directly into your bank account if you have registered your bank details with them, or if not then payment is made by cheque. Payment can be made by cash, eftpos or credit card. All enquiries relating to our fee structure should be directed to reception.
Standard Consultation – $80 Medicare Rebate = $37.60
Long Consultation – $120 with Medicare rebate = $72.80
Prolonged Consultation – $160 Medicare rebate =$107.15
Please continue to bring your Medicare card and your concession card to each consultation as our computer system regularly needs updating. It also allows us to bulk bill your consultation if a procedure is also performed.
If these arrangements will cause undue financial hardship please discuss your situation with your doctor.
We run an appointment system, but keep a few times open to fit in urgent problems.
You can make an appointment with your doctor by telephoning the surgery on 07 5446 5999. Urgent medical problems will be dealt with promptly.
Appointments are normally made at 15 minute intervals, so you can usually expect to spend 10-15 minutes with your doctor. Longer appointments in excess of 15 minutes are available and are usually arranged for complete physicals or other examinations for specific purposes (eg: Management and Care Plans, Post natal checks for mother and baby, insurance or employment medicals, procedures and some immunisations, centrelink forms and any other paperwork) Please check your need for a longer consulation with our receptionist prior to making your appointment.
Unless it is urgent, it is advisable to book your apointment well in advance to enable you to book the doctor and time of your choice.
Whilst we endeavour to answer all your telephone calls promptly, at certain times our lines may be busy or our receptionist taking another call. When this occurs you will be advised by a recorded message and you will be attended to as soon as possible.
If you are new to the practice you may need a long appoinment at your first consultation to enable you to bring the GP up to date with your medical history. If the consultation is for something simple ie ear ache, sore throat etc you will probably only require a standard appointment.
We are open for a few hours on Saturday morning and appointments must be made on the day. The surgery can be phoned from 8am The Saturday morning appointments are for more urgent matters that cant wait until Monday morning.
